The Organizing Committee of the 16th World Conference on Earthquake Engineering is very pleased to invite you to attend the 16WCEE to be held in Santiago, Chile, between Tuesday 10th and Friday 13th, January 2017.
The venue will be CasaPiedra, with one of the most beautiful views of the Cordillera de los Andes and the Mapocho River, and excellent conference facilities. January is summer time in Chile, with pleasant temperatures in Santiago between 15° and 30° C (59°F and 86° F).
Chile is one of the most seismic countries of the world: in 1960 the largest magnitude earthquake recorded by humankind occurred in Valdivia, which characterizes the challenges of Chilean earthquake engineering.
The 16WCEE Organizing Committee is working to provide a conference that will give a unique opportunity for exchange of knowledge and discussion of experiences in earthquake engineering among researchers, practicing engineers, and other interested persons from academic institutions, private companies, and official agencies throughout the world.
Topics will include seismic resilient cities, earthquake risk reduction in developing countries, earthquake engineering in practice, international issues in earthquake engineering, engineering seismology, geotechnical engineering, structural engineering, performance-based design, lifeline systems, seismic isolation, design criteria and methods, social and economic issues, and lessons from recent earthquakes.
