This paper starts from the technical characteristics of virtual reality, explains how to use virtual reality technology to build a virtual museum, produce and complete the corresponding 3D models of cultural relics, develop a virtual experimental system platform for the extraction and design of cultural relic shapes, and design the corresponding experimental procedures for the selection of cultural relics, shape extraction, graphic expansion, graphic colour matching and graphic use, with the aim of allowing people to extract the shape features of cultural relics through the procedures and to make creative changes to the The aim is to allow people to extract the stylistic features of the artefact through the programme, to make creative changes to the extracted shapes, to evolve the traditional shapes into modern aesthetic forms, and to experience the beauty of the traditional artefact in an immersive way. The final discussion on the implementation of the experimental program and the key technologies, as well as the summary and outlook, provides a reference for the practice of the Form Design course for art design majors in universities in the context of the rapid development of virtual reality technology, while helping to promote the traditional cultural elements.
