活动简介

Dear Colleagues,

It is my great pleasure to invite you to the 2022 47th International Conference on Infrared, Millimeter and Terahertz Waves (IRMMW-THz), which will be held in Delft, The Netherlands, from 28 August to 2 September 2022.

This will be the first IRMMW-THz conference to be held in the Netherlands. The Netherlands is a safe and enjoyable country to visit and English is widely spoken. Located in the heart of Europe, it has convenient air and rail connections for international travelers and excellent local public transport. Delft is a uniquely beautiful and ancient city that dates from the 13th century. Historic stone buildings and large open squares, interconnected with cobblestone walkways and shady, soothing canals run throughout the old town. Delft is conveniently located between Rotterdam and Amsterdam and is a short 40 minute train ride from Schiphol Airport in Amsterdam or 30 minutes from Rotterdam Airport. The Hague is the closest large city, boasting many famous museums as well as the World Court – only 15 minutes from Delft by train.

The IRMMW-THz scientific community is extremely well represented in The Netherlands, with historic roots in physics and astronomy dating back to the eighteenth century and many modern academic and government groups working in a variety of areas of interest for the conference. The IRMMW-THz 2022 is being organized by a Local Organizing Committee (LOC) composed of scientists working locally in the many disciplines that comprise the IRMMW-THz community and coming from both university and government-based research institutes in the Netherlands. You can find them listed on our COMMITTEES page.

Due to the continuing impact of Covid 19, this year’s conference will be a hybrid event – with both in-person and on-line activities and presentations. The exact program split – between live and digital - is still uncertain, but our hybrid approach will provide sufficient flexibility to adjust for the changing conditions and regulations. Updates on potential COVID related changes or restrictions pertinent to the conference will be provided regularly. At this time, participants will be asked to choose their preferred mode of presentation (on-line or in-person) during the registration process. This information will only be used to plan the hybrid event. As we get closer to the actual conference date, we will be able to finalize the presentation schedules for each author and the final choice between live and internet-based talks or posters.

The in-person conference will be hosted at the Aula Conference Center of Delft University of Technology (TUDelft, www.tudelft.nl). The Aula is located on the TUDelft campus, only a 10-min walk from Delft’s historic city center. The Aula Center has excellent facilities with an auditorium for the Plenary sessions that can hold up to 1100 attendees, and many in-center breakout rooms for the individual technical sessions and poster presentations.

I invite all of you to participate in the 47th IRMMW-THz conference. It is going to be a memorable event, with high quality technical content, a comfortable and convenient conference center, and an historic location. I hope you can come in person to Delft, to attend the technical activities of IRMMW-THz 2022, but also to spend some days to enjoy our city!

Sincerely

Nuria Llombart,
Conference Chair
