ISMAC generally consists of four major technical tracks: Multimedia Processing and Systems, Signal Processing, Communication Systems and Industry and Regulatory Development for Communications. The field of Multimedia Processing and Systems becomes core the field of digital signal processing. With the rapid progress of internet and wireless systems, the interdisciplinary research of multimedia processing and communications is becoming more important. Some of the basic concepts, such as spectral analysis, coding/decoding, estimation and prediction, clustering, information retrievable and detection have become the fundamentals for numerous applications. They have been applied in such diverse areas as video coding, speech recognition, language recognition, artificial intelligence and neural networks. Through the track of Industry and Regulatory Development for Communications, the new and novel collaborations with industry and government are also discussed and presented in this symposium.
