Bio-inspired computing is a field of study that abstracts computing ideas (data structures, operations with data, ways to control operations, computing models, artificial intelligence, multisource data driven and analysis, etc.) from the living phenomena or biological systems such as evolution, cell, tissue, neural network, immune system, ant colony, physical laws and nature. The areas of bio-inspired computing include Neural Networks, Brain-inspired Computation, Evolutionary Computation, Swarm Intelligence, Fuzzy Logic and Systems, DNA and Molecular Computing, Membrane Computing, Complex Networks and Complex Systems, Cybernetics, Artificial intelligence, Artificial Life and Artificial Immune Systems, etc.
The 13th International Conference on Bio-inspired Computing: Theories and Applications (BIC-TA 2018) will be held on 2nd-4th, November, 2018, in Beijing, China. BIC-TA 2018 is the thirteenth annual event in the high-reputation BIC-TA series. BIC-TA 2018 aims to provide a high-level international forum for researchers working in the field of bio-inspired computing to present their recent study results and to exchange ideas. The conference invites researchers to contribute high-quality original research papers in any aspect of bio-inspired computing.
Beijing is the Capital of China and is now one of the largest international cities in the world. As the cultural, educational and high-tech center of the nation. Beijing possesses many world-class conference facilities, communication infrastructures, and hotels, and has successfully hosted many important international conferences and events like the 2008 Beijing Olympic Games, 2014 Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC), etc. In addition, Beijing has rich culture and historical attractions such as the Great Wall, the Forbidden City, the Summer Palace, and the Temple of Heaven. The participants of BIC-TA 2018 can also enjoy Peking operas, beautiful landscapes, and the hospitality of the Chinese people, Chinese cuisine, and a modern China.

The 13th International Conference on Bio−inspired Computing: Theories and Applications (BIC−TA 2018) will be held on November 2-4, 2018, Beijing, China, which is built upon the success of the previous ones held in Wuhan (2006), Zhengzhou (2007), Adelaide (2008), Beijing (2009), Liverpool and Changsha (2010), Penang (2011), Gwalior (2012), Anhui (2013), Wuhan (2014), Anhui (2015), Xi’an (2016), and Harbin (2017), respectively.
The conference invites researchers to contribute high quality original research papers in any aspect of bio−inspired computing. The main topics for the conference include, but are not limited to, the following:
As with the past BIC-TA conferences, accepted papers will be published in Communications in Computer and Information Science (CCIS) by Springer. Extended versions of some selected papers will be invited for special issues in several journals in the field, including:
1. Swarm and Evolutionary Computation(Elsevier, SCI二区,IF=3.893, including 15-20 papers)
2. CAAI Transactions on Intelligence Technology (EI)
3. Systems Science & Control Engineering (EI)
4. Evolutionary Intelligence (Springer, ESCI)
5. International Journal of Swarm Intelligence Research (ESCI)
6. Scientific annals of computer science (ESCI)
7. Journal of Zhengzhou University (Engineering Science) (in Chinese)
Paper preparation
Manuscripts should be written in English. The clear majority of papers to be published in BIC-TA 2018 CCIS proceedings should be full papers (8 to 12 pages in the LNCS/CCIS one-column page format); short papers and poster papers (no less than 6 pages) should make up only for selected papers to be published. Particularly, we would like to require the authors to use Springer conference paper templates to prepare papers. Authors whose papers to be published in CCIS need to sign the Springer CCIS Copyright Transfer
All accepted papers will be published in Communications in Computer and Information Science (CCIS) by Springer. We refer authors to Springer’s CCIS webpage, for all information related to CCIS.
A part of selected high-quality papers will be extended for publishing in several SCI Journals (after reviewing). If a paper is selected to be published in a SCI Journal, authors of the paper will be requested to re-prepare the paper according to the “Author Guideline” of the journal.
