This is the age of human resource management. While innovation is the growth engine for organizations, it is the human capital that spurs innovation than any other organizational resource. The role of the human resource manager has metamorphosed from being tactical to strategic to sustainable in business organizations. In a globalized economy, HR analysts are driving predictive human resource management practices. The future directions of HRM research is clearly strategy and resource orientation, as human resources have become ‘critical’ for organizational success.
Automation provides a unique opportunity to rethink on workers engagement with their jobs and how digital technologies can impact individuals, teams, and organizations. It is time for top HR thinkers to focus on the future of jobs, the future of work practices and the future of the workforce. Surely sustainability of HRM in the future depends on creating frameworks and practices, policies and procedures that would optimize deployment of intellectual resources between the humans and robots.
